Build In Process Documentation

Learn how to use Build In Process to build genuine connections and grow your X presence through a karma-based engagement system.

Getting Started

Get up and running with Build In Process in three simple steps:

  1. Sign up with X

Create your Build In Process account by signing in with your X (Twitter) account. We only request basic profile access.

  2. Install the Chrome Extension

The extension tracks your engagements on X.com and automatically awards karma. See the installation guide below.

  3. Start Engaging

Browse the feed, find interesting posts, and engage on X. Every like, reply, and follow on GoKarma members earns you karma.

Installation

Note: Build In Process is currently in private alpha. The extension must be installed manually as it's not yet on the Chrome Web Store.

Installation Steps

  1. Download the Extension

    Download from our GitHub repository:

    Download Extension
  2. Extract the ZIP

Unzip the downloaded file. You should see a folder called karma-extention-main.

  3. Open Chrome Extensions

    In Chrome, navigate to:

    chrome://extensions
  4. Enable Developer Mode

Toggle the "Developer mode" switch in the top-right corner.

  5. Load the Extension

Click "Load unpacked" and select the extracted folder (containing manifest.json).

  6. Connect Your Account

Click the extension icon in Chrome's toolbar, then click "Connect with GoKarma" to link your account.

How It Works

Build In Process uses an asymmetric karma economy to encourage genuine engagement. The key insight: giving is rewarded more than receiving.

The Karma Flow

When You Engage

You earn karma for liking, replying, or following other GoKarma members:

  • Like a post: +1 karma
  • Reply to a post: +5 karma
  • Follow someone: +15 karma

When Others Engage With You

They earn karma while you spend 2x that amount:

  • They like your post: -2 karma
  • They reply: -10 karma
  • They follow you: -30 karma

Why Asymmetric? This system prevents karma farming. You can't just post content and collect karma—you must actively engage with others. The best strategy is to find posts you genuinely find interesting and engage authentically.

Karma System

ActionYou EarnTarget SpendsReversal

Reversal Penalties

If you unlike a post or unfollow someone, you'll lose the karma you earned:

  • Unfollows are verified when you submit a new post
  • Each detected unfollow applies a -30 karma penalty
  • Unlikes are tracked in real-time by the extension

Troubleshooting

Extension not detected on the website

If the feed shows "Install Extension" even though you installed it:

  1. Refresh the page (Cmd/Ctrl + R)
  2. Make sure the extension is enabled in chrome://extensions
  3. Click the extension icon and ensure it says "Active"

Karma not updating after engagement

If you engaged but didn't see karma change:

  1. Check if the person is a GoKarma member (look for the ⚡ badge)
  2. Make sure you clicked "Engage on X" from the GoKarma feed
  3. Ensure your extension is connected (check the popup)

Can't connect the extension

If clicking "Connect with GoKarma" doesn't work:

  1. Make sure you're logged in to GoKarma first
  2. Try logging out and back in on the website
  3. Disable and re-enable the extension

FAQ

What happens if I unfollow someone?

You'll lose the +15 karma you earned and receive an additional -30 penalty. Unfollows are verified when you submit a new post to discourage follow-for-follow schemes.

Can I game the system with fake accounts?

The asymmetric system makes this costly. If you create a fake account to engage with yourself, you'd lose 2x the karma you gain. Plus, new accounts start with limited karma, making the scheme unprofitable.

Why do I "lose" karma when someone engages with my post?

Think of it as "spending" karma to get engagement. You're using your reputation to attract attention to your content. The person engaging earns karma for their effort, while your post gets visibility.

How is post ranking determined?

Posts are ranked by a score combining the author's karma balance, engagement count, and recency. Higher karma users get more initial visibility, but engagement can boost any post.

Is my Twitter/X data safe?

We only request basic profile access. The extension only tracks engagement actions on GoKarma members—it doesn't read your DMs, access your followers list, or post on your behalf.

How long do posts stay in the feed?

Posts expire after 7 days. This keeps the feed fresh and ensures active participation. You can submit a new post once your current one expires.
